It still feels like magic. A concept coming together between collaborators, the compounding effect of iteration, the immediate reach of the web, the realization of imagined objects and spaces. The wisdom of the customer, and seeing them use the things we make. And getting back to work.

Newly-founded GenesisB needed to stand out as a capable partner for companies looking to build products on blockchain technology. A playfully nerdy, crisp identity and understated design are paired with metaphorical photography that connects the abstract technology to real-world applications. They're just getting started.

Feast: Made from scratch

In 2015, I teamed up with a few ex-agency folks to start a food company. We created a seamless experience by integrating culinary and delivery teams in-house. We fed a lot of people, and learned a lot along the way about customer-centricity, team-building, culture, and great food.

After its first year and a half, Feast pivoted from delivery to retail. We turned the brand into something new, rooted in our founding values. The challenges of expanding into the physical retail space were humbling and illuminating.

Big brands at Blast Radius

For a few years, I led the visual design of a series of progressively more complex e-commerce “platforms”. Together with a few consistent collaborators, we learned how to create systems that merchandise and build brands.

Over the course of each project, my role shifted from designing concepts with a small team of designers and pitching to the client, to leading a larger creative team over months of agile production.

The design, content, and business challenges we faced, and the team effort to overcome them, were invaluable experience.

I started out in a web studio in 1999, designing and building websites, while earning my BDES and learning about type and image the analog way. After graduating, I worked in a design studio doing print and web work, then spent 7 years at Blast Radius. After that, I consulted for tech startups, then dove into startup life at Feast, which was sold in 2017. Since then, I’ve been freelancing.
